Why is this happening: "Jurassic World" movie review

Why would we need a hybrid dinosaur in our lives? Don't we have enough problems?
"Science has gone TOO far!" was my catchphrase last semester in my bioethics class. I would probably say this every class because I am one of those people that believes science has gone too far. There is absolutely no reason that we need genetically-modified dinosaurs in the 21st century. Or any dinosaur for that matter. They are extinct for a reason.

Do not, do NOT mess with nature! What is the best you're going to get out of it? A T-Rex hybrid running around killing for fun and destroying your theme park? DON'T mess with nature! I have taken multiple environmental courses, a bioethics class and am mentally SANE! There is no reason there should be a dinosaur roaming around free in 2015. Doesn't the idea of a dinosaur theme park sound like a bad idea to begin with? Who wants this and why?

Science. Has. Gone. Too. Far.

I am not a fan of the Jurassic Park franchise. In fact, the first time I watched the original was two nights before I saw the newest in the series and didn't even bother watching the other two films. I know the movies have a "cult following" but in what world would creating dinosaurs and making a theme park based around that idea ever be a good idea? Why are we creating dinosaurs in a lab?

I was never that kid growing up that loved dinosaurs. To this day, I probably wouldn't be able to name a single dinosaur besides a T-Rex and I'm honestly not too confident in that. To me, the dinosaurs are either "long-neck one that is a herbivore," "flying one," or "other." I don't know what I was expecting when I sat down to watch the original film but I didn't get what I wanted. I know the way movies are made, produced and written have changed a lot but this movie was exceptionally slow moving and actually kind of boring to me. It was slow, didn't show a dinosaur until an hour in and randomly had Samuel L. Jackson in it??
What rational human being would do this? Not me. The original was released in 1993.
The only reason I wanted to see Jurassic World was truthfully because Chris Pratt is in it. I am a huge fan of Parks & Recreation and when he starred in Guardians of the Galaxy last summer I couldn't wait to see him more on the big screen. The trailer made the movie seem exciting, fast-paced and new. I should have known better. I felt like I was cheated.

The plot felt the same as the first. Running away from dinosaurs. Saving innocent children. Distracting harmful dinosaur. All the problems forgotten. Cinematic art! Maybe it's because I'm a soulless, old lady who never loved dinosaurs.

My friend Franny suspects that I can't love these movies because I was never saw them as a child and being scared is half the fun. It's the kind of movie you see when you're a kid, then catch bits and pieces of it when it's on TV. I liked the idea of the movie but the original movie couldn't keep my attention. The newest gave me severe anxiety because I knew the entire situation could have been avoided. As an adult, I see the faults in having a "Jurassic park." Kids would think it's fun and different but I see the risks. Dinosaurs are dangerous and the characters definitely could have handled the situation a little better. Why is it that I know better than to create a genetically-modified dinosaur but these scientists don't?
I saw "Jurassic World" with my friends Amber and Ashley. Ashley summed up my feelings on the film.
I know that I'm thinking about it too much, but that's what I do. There has to be reasoning and logical thinking to everything and this movie makes me question the thought process behind every character in it. It's not that I didn't like the movie, because I did. It was humorous, cutesy and quirky and to a longtime fan it would be another perfect addition to the series.
