Harry Styles told me to drive safe so I did: One Direction concert review

"How do you like both One Direction and Led Zeppelin?" I hear this nearly everyday. What's so wrong with liking both One Direction and Led Zeppelin? What more could one want than four (sorry, Zayn) really good-looking 20-somethings dancing around a stage singing really catchy songs? That was Led Zeppelin at one point. Yes, Led Zeppelin is probably the greatest rock band ever and One Direction is a silly boy band but what's really the difference? Led Zeppelin and One Direction are almost the same band if you think about it really hard.

Stepping into Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, NY it was clear that I was not there to cheer on the Buffalo Bills. I feel like I had stepped into another world. Girls ten years younger than me ran around screaming with their posters while their moms bought overpriced beer that came with a collectable Bills cup. I was in a different land. There was no way that this place housed the Buffalo Bills when clearly this was One Direction's territory.

This was my first One Direction concert. I've been a fan since I first saw them perform on "Saturday Night Live" in 2012 so it was really exciting to finally be seeing them. I was filled with a mix of excitement and giddiness that doesn't happen to me ever. I couldn't even sleep the night before the concert, only getting about four hours of sleep. I like to joke that I'm never happy, I just get less miserable so this was really something. I drove two and half hours and spent a whole paycheck from one of my jobs for two tickets to see One Direction perform last night. And it was all worth it.

One Direction was a different band when I bought two nosebleeds back in November. Zayn was still in the band, Louis hadn't impregnated a girl but Harry's hair was still the beautiful greasy mess that I expected. Honestly, I would drive two and half hours just to see Harry's hair. Hair flip to hair flip, I was still amazed and obsessed two hours into the show and have been for years.
Three Harrys is the ideal amount of Harrys.
Overall, the show was great and I was really impressed by the boys. I didn't expect a terrible show but I didn't expect the show to be so much fun. They really knew how to create energy in such a large stadium and I usually try to avoid big-venue tours because it's hard to create something special. The crowd went wild whenever Niall sang Zayn's parts. Liam thanked the city of Buffalo for creating hot sauce and chicken wings. Harry sang the names of a newlywed couple in the audience. Louis danced around stage with a leprechaun's hat on. It's One Direction and it honestly doesn't get better than this.
