Walk the Moon have a special place in my heart. They aren't my favorite band but they are probably my favorite band to see in concert. I like to joke that I need to see them in concert every year because I've seen them three consecutive years in a row starting in 2013 then again 14 months later in 2014 and I saw them again in April of this year. If I don't see them in 2016 not only will I be sad but I'll be confused about the path I'm on.
I don't think I have a friend who doesn't like Walk the Moon and if any of them don't I've burried it in the back of head to forget it. I remember the first time I listened to Walk the Moon. I was a senior in high school in my school's dark room developing photographs before we would be away for winter break and my friend Ashley was keeping me company. We usually blasted CDs in the dark room but for some reason that day the stereo wasn't working so she made me watch the music video for "Anna Sun" on her iPod. We giggled over the lead singer Nick Petricca's dance moves and were humming the chorus by the end of the song.

At my first show Nick cried during "Fixin'" so I cried during "Fixin.'" When the band tells you to put up your hands during "I Can Lift a Car" you lift up your hands. At the latest show the band did a cover of "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers (one of my all-time favorite bands) and I both cried and lifted my hands in the air. And danced and sang louder than any other song.
I have jammed out to Walk the Moon more than any other person on this earth I think. I make literally anyone who has been in my car listen to them. I blast the band at obscene levels and drive fast. I think all of their songs should be the song of the summer. Their entire self-titled debut album was the soundtrack of summer 2013. I don't think an album as well as that one reminds me of my summer after high school as well. There's nothing like driving fast down an empty road while the lyrics to any of their songs play while singly obnoxiously loud.
Bands like Walk the Moon make me want to be a music journalist. There is so much energy and passion to their sound that I can sense by simply listening to their music. There is so more there when seeing them in concert. The band truly knows how to put on a show and they clearly know how to release a song of the summer.
