What is rugby?

I attended my first Lasell rugby game on April 12 and I am still not sure how I feel about it. It started out with a player kicking a football (was it even a football?) then the other team kicking the football back and then it all went downhill from there.

At some points they were lifting each other in the air and if I wasn't confused before that I definitely was then. Scoring for rugby is just weird. It is kind of like basketball where it depends where the ball is on how many points the team gets but other than that I have no idea.

Lasell rugby is beyond popular here and for obvious reasons. It is fast-paced, unlike football, but is still a lot similar to football. They play like football but instead of being tagged out players can continue to run across the field until they are tackled down and the ball is taken from them.  

The team lost their home game on Sunday, April 12 but no matter what the season brings, Lasell will always be out there supporting the most confusing campus club sport.
